People have asked what my favorite part was – it’s impossible to narrow down. I really liked the Garden of Gethsemane and all the miracle sites flanking the Sea of Galilee. Standing above the plane of Armageddon (“Tel Meggido”) was sobering, as was the garden tomb.

The food was a mixture of roasted vegetables and the kind of fried things other nationalities perceive Americans will eat. I managed.

It was disappointing to see all our fast food chains right in the heart of Jerusalem amid the ancient historical sites; and processed food is being heavily marketed to children, as evidenced in bags of chips bearing cartoon character images I brought back to the office yesterday. On a happier note, we’re enjoying dates and sesame seed bars.
